Gifts to Remember:
Magazine Museum Store Carries 100,000 Back Issue Magazines,
30,000 Posters & Flags of All Nations

John Lennon and the Beatles. Rolling Stone. Chicago history. National Geographic featured country issues. The New Yorker (4,000 full issues, not just covers), Ebony and Black history. National flags. Vintage posters. And much more.

Magazine Museum, located in downtown Skokie, is just one of four back issue magazine stores in the entire USA, carrying more than 100,000 newspapers and magazines dating back to 1681. The unique inventory also includes 30,000 posters (many featuring movie stars) and 200 flags of all nations.

Original Life, Look, Post, Time, Newsweek, Colliers, Vogue, Esquire, Cosmo, Bazaar, Fortune, McCall’s, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes, Sports Illustrated, Motor Trend, Mad, Jazz, military, film, theater, fashion, aviation, train magazines. National Lampoon, Heavy Metal, Playboy. National resource for The New Yorker special issues. And many more treasures.

People return again to buy old magazines for holiday and business gifts, birthdays, anniversaries, or any significant occasion where originality and memory counts. “We have many special collections,” explains owner Bob Katzman. “Our nationality-based inventory of National Geographic, for example, appeals to different ethnicities, as well as to business people who want to give a unique gift to colleagues or executives in other countries.”

A woman from the U.S. Embassy in London had searched everywhere for January 1934 periodicals for her mother’s 76th birthday “While no one else had them, I had four and she bought two of them. People who give the gift of an old magazine,” Katzman says, “are always amazed at the tremendously emotional response they receive from the recipient.”

“Someone You Should Know: Back-Issue Baron Bob Katzman,” 11/19, CBSChicago.
